of Domaine Paul BLANCK
The
Blancks, wine-makers for generations, are
passionately enamoured with the Alsace
Grands Crus and the other excellent
vineyards that make up their 36 hectare
estate (formerly called Comtes de Lupfen).
They still work the vineyards as their
forefathers did, to get the best out of them.
The grapes, from different slopes and soils
spread over six villages, are vinified
separately, without air contact. That way
each wine can fully express the character of
its soil.
Altenbourg, Grafreben, Patergarten,
Rosenbourg and the Grands Crus Schlossberg,
Furstentum, Mambourg, Sommerberg and
Wineck-Schlossberg make, depending on the
year, between 40 and 60 different wines,
including the great ones destined for ageing,
which can last up to 20 years. Each vine,
each grape, and also each vineyard parcel
and its surrounding environment: the Blancks
are passionately concerned with all of these.
